PURPOSE: The apparatus comprising prepayment means and method for detecting copy of the memory is provided to avoid excessively depending on a base station by supplying a reference memory to simultaneously save randomly generated mark and the credit memory. CONSTITUTION: The device includes a credit memory in which a first area is provided for credit information. A monitoring device is provided for monitoring the credit memory. The monitoring device includes reference memory, and event detectors which create a record in the reference memory and in the credit memory. The records are compared to control the credit memory. The device may include a circuit for receiving subscriber identification module(SIM card)(5), the reference memory being contained in the SIM card(5). An Independent claim is included for a method for detecting a copy of a memory.
