PURPOSE: A device for damping the vibration of a passanger transferrer, such as an escalator, is provided to efficiently reduce the vibration of an excitation frequency. CONSTITUTION: A dynamic vibration reducer(4) for the reduction of the vibration of an excitation frequency as an engagement frequency of an upward driving terminal gear is mounted at the center of a support member(2) supporting a driven terminal gear(1). The dynamic vibration reducer has elongated holes(7a) at both ends of an elastic part(7) for the generation of the frequency from 2Hz to 20Hz and mass parts(10) consisting of two mass bodies. By moving the mass body, a frequency of an element the same as a frequency of the engagement frequency is generated. As the dynamic vibration reducer vibrates on the basis of the excitation frequency, the amplification of the vibration at a step is reduced by interrupting a step chain. If the driven terminal gear moves with the excitation frequency, the dynamic vibration reducer moves with the vibration of the engagement frequency. Therefore, the vibrational energy of the driven terminal gear is absorbed.
