PURPOSE: A process for preparing recording paper having excellent barrier property and uniform printability by forming a paper layer with a porous structure and coating an ink absorbing layer comprising starch as a main component thereon in the size pressing process of a paper machine is provided. Thereby, the recording paper for measuring equipment has clear record and is capable of preserving for a long period of time. CONSTITUTION: Base paper is obtained from slurry pulp comprising 70 to 93% by weight of pulp, 6 to 30% by weight of talc or calcium carbonate, 0.3 to 3% by weight of a sizing agent, 0.3 to 3% by weight of a paper reinforcing agent, 0.5 to 6% by weight of an adhesive and 0.01 to 0.2% by weight of cationic polyacrylic amide. And a coating liquid containing 2 to 6% by weight of one or more starch selected from oxidation starch, cationized starch and ethylated starch, 0.004 to 0.01% by weight of a curing agent, 0.1 to 2% by weight of a polymeric sizing agent, 0.5 to 5% by weight of a cationizing agent, 1 to 10% by weight of a fluorine resin-based oil-proof agent and less than 1% by weight of a color-developing dye is coated on the base paper on a size press to produce the titled paper.
