PURPOSE: A method and a circuit of data masking are provided to save power consumption at a DQM signal input terminal by identifying how many data to be masked using the information loaded in an address bus at an initial time of inputting a DQM signal without monitoring the DQM signal continuously. CONSTITUTION: According to the data masking circuit, a counter(20) performs a down-counting by receiving the information value corresponding to the number of data to be masked continuously through an address bus(ADDR), during a READ or a WRITE operation. And then, a masking control part(10) outputs an internal data masking signal(IDQM) while a coefficient value of the counter is down-counted to '0(zero)', by receiving a data masking signal(DQM) from an external pad(PAD). And, an input/output control part(30) inputs/outputs data into/out of a memory(SDRAM), and restricts the input/output of data by receiving the IDQM signal from the masking control part.
