PURPOSE: The titled composition comprising phenol-based resin as a main component and a boron-based compound is provided. Therefore, the composition is excellent in oxidation resistance and can be mainly used as a binder for the manufacture of fire brick, mortar or the like. CONSTITUTION: The composition contains phenol-based resin as a main component and 1 to 20% by weight of a boron-based compound, wherein the phenol-based resin is resol type or novolac type phenol resin and the boron-based compound is boric acid, boron oxide, boron trichloride or boron.
