The system, e.g. for an extending telescopic pole or mast locked by rotation, consists of a central component (4) fixed to the end of one telescopic member (T1) and having a threaded section (42) which projects into the adjacent member (T2). The second member (T2) container two semi=cylindrical shells (50, 51) with wedge-shaped facing edges (501, 511). One of the shells has an inner rib to engage with the threaded section (42) and enable it to move relative to the other shell. When the shells are moved towards one another they expand and lock the two members of the pole, and when they are moved apart they release the members and allow them to be adjusted. |
