PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating elastic waves for inspecting nondestructive ground is provided to effectively and rapidly perform the inspection of nondestructive ground, and to ensure the free movement of the apparatus. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for generating elastic waves comprises a movable carrier(10), and a strut(30) vertically installed on the top surface of the carrier. An air cylinder(40) having a rod(42) is vertically installed on the top of the strut. A compressed air supply device for supplying the compressed air required to drive the air cylinder consists of an air compressor(70), an air control unit(72), and a control console for controlling the air control unit. The air control unit supplies the compressed air generated by the air compressor in a predetermined pressure. A hitting device for hitting the ground consists of a chain(80) connected to the rod of the air cylinder at the upper end, and a hanger(82) having two legs connected to the lower end of the chain. Both ends of a shaft are fitted in holes of the hanger, and a disk shaped weight(92) is rotatively installed on the circumference of the shaft.
