PURPOSE: A method for transferring a digital data stream is provided to record a digital data stream for a speed variation reproducing in a recording apparatus like a streamer by recording an information into a transfer packet for identifying whether data recorded on a charged load of a transfer packet is base video data to which a random access is possible. CONSTITUTION: A controller of a streamer controls a storing stream processor for storing a received data stream on a recording medium in case that a data stream is received from a set-top box. The transmission stream record-stored by the storing stream processor is implemented based on the unit of a transfer packet of a size of 188 byte, and the transmission packet of 188 bytes includes a header information which includes a charge load of a video and audio, a synchronous byte, a transmission error indication information, a continuous counter and adaptation field. A random access indication information and a stuffing byte are recorded in the adaptation field for coinciding the transmission packet with a recording size of 188 bytes. Identification information capable of identifying whether the random access is base image data and start information and end information capable of identifying whether the transmission packet is a leading transmission packet or the final transmission packet corresponding to the base image data are included in the first byte of the stuffing data.
