PURPOSE: Provided is a diaminodiphenylmethane efficiently in high yield by carrying out the rearrangement reaction of an intermediate prepared by condensation reaction between aniline and formaldehyde in the presence of a zeolite catalyst. CONSTITUTION: The method for producing diaminodiphenylmethane of formula(1) (Φ is phenyl; R is H, a 1-8C (iso)alkyl, a 4-10C cycloalkyl, or the like, (n) is 1 or more and is an integer to make a functional valence 2-4) or its higher homologues, comprises a rearrangement reaction of an intermediate of formula(2):^¶- NR - CH - RN - ^¶, in the presence of an acid type zeolite having the spaciousness index of 2.5-19 of formula(3). The rearrangement reaction is carried out in a solvent such as an aliphatic hydrocarbon, or the like at 50-200 deg.C. The zeolite is a crystalline synthetic substance represented by formula(3) ((x)<1; (p) is 1-20; M is a metal in the groups of IA and IIA or a lanthanide metal; (n) is the valence of M). The diaminodiphenylmethane is prepared by reaction of aniline (derivative) with formaldehyde.
