PURPOSE: A method for driving a liquid crystal display device is provided to obtain sufficient charging time of a high speed crystal by making the width of a gate on-time pulse long. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display device has liquid crystal pixel cells which are arranged on the crossing part of the plurality of gate lines and data lines in form of matrix. The liquid crystal pixel cells charge the data supplied through the data lines in response to on time of the gate pulse. The pulse widths of the gate pulse(GP) are set to be longer than the scanning period of the one line. The liquid crystal pixel cells charge data that have same polarities in response to the gate pulse. The liquid crystal pixel cells have liquid crystal layers which are composed of a ferroelectric liquid crystal or an anti-ferro electric liquid crystal.
