PURPOSE: A method for converting among processors and between communication protocol and asynchronous transmission mode protocol is provided to make data analysis of the HDLC(High-level Data Link Control) protocol, error detection and debugging operation easy by converting between the HDLC protocol and the ATM(Asynchronous transfer mode) protocol. CONSTITUTION: In the method for converting among processors and between communication protocol and asynchronous transmission mode protocol, a few stages are included. In the stages of 31, 32, if the received HDLC frame is the data frame, the address field of the frame is tested and if the destination address is the processor address of other available system, it is converted into the ATM protocol. In the stages of 33-35, the control portion investigates the length of the frame and if the length is not '0', the HDLC frame is copied temporarily. In the stage of 36, the copied data frame is divided into 48 bite unit and the ATM cell payload is made. In the stage of 37, after generating the ATM cell header, the ATM cell is generated and is stored in the transmission buffer. In the stage of 38, the ATM cell is transmitted to an ATM switch.
