PURPOSE: A control method of an air conditioner is provided to prevent liquid refrigerant from remaining in a compressor by discharging the refrigerant to an external refrigerant tube or a heat exchanger when the compressor is turned off. CONSTITUTION: A bypass pipe and a bypass valve are prepared. Herein, the bypass pipe connects a compressor discharge pipe with a compressor suction pipe while the bypass valve opens a flow path of the bypass pipe. When a compressor is turned off, an expansion valve is closed. The bypass valve is opened during specific time to discharge refrigerant in the compressor to outside. Finally, the expansion valve is opened when the compressor is turned on. The refrigerant in the compressor is discharged to a refrigerant tube or a heat exchanger when the compressor is turned off. Therefore, the liquid refrigerant does not remain in the compressor.
