A method of separating reactants from products within a reactive distillation structure (62). Reaction products heavier than reactants, such as ethylbenzene product with benzene and ethylene reactants are discouraged from re-entering the reaction zone (53) by introduction of a rectifying section (44) in between the reaction zone and the stripping section (47). Reaction products lighter than reactants, such as hydroconversion process, are discouraged from re-entering the reaction zone by introduction of a stripping section in between the reaction zone and the rectifying section.
