<p>Cpds. are prepd. by addn, of a liquid mixture of a furan deriv. of formula (where R is H or 1-6C alkyl) to a halogenated cyclopentadiene of formula (where X is halogen such as f, Cl or Br; and Y is F, Cl,Br, 1-10C alkyl, 1-10C alkoxy, 1-10C haloalkyl or 1-10C haloalkoxy) in a solvent kept at 70-200 degrees C. The ratio of reactants is not 2 moles cyclopentadiene per mole furan. Flame-retardant polymer compsns. e.g. ABS, SB, ethylene-propylene terpolymer or butyl rubber may contain flame-retardant propns. of the cpds. opt. with cpds. of Sb, As, or Bi.</p> |
