An alloy for brazing Zr, which may also be used for brazing Ti, Mo and their alloys, consists of Zr contg. 3-10 wt.% Be and 0.5-25 wt.% Cu, and may also contain 0.1-3 wt.% Cr, Fe, Ni, Nb, or Mo. The alloy pref consists of Zr with 15 wt.% Cu and 6 wt.% Be, and not only has a lower melting point than conventional brazing alloys without the copper, but as there is no local diffusion of copper at the brazed joint, the joints are less susceptible to corrosive attack, partic. by CO2 at 600 degrees C.
|
