Element (2), typically quartz or ceramic insulated and metal-sheathed, is formed with 3 U-bends, and lies in a channel (6) formed in a sheet metal panel (4) constituting part of the oven lining. Panel is aluminized or enameled, and U-shaped channel is dimensioned so that only a narrow space, eg. under 5mm, and preferably about 2mm, separates it from element, while the latter's outermost surface is flush with the general panel surface. The element is held in place by restricting the channel cross-section at a few points and pressing in the sides where they merge with the main panel area to form retaining shoulders. |
