PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A PYRIDINEMETHANOL COMPOUND

<p>A pyridinemethanol compound serving as an important intermediate of mirtazapine useful as antidepressant can be prepared by reducing a potassium salt of a pyridinecarboxilic acid as represented by formula (I) with a metal hydride.</p>
