NOVEL PROMOTER SEQUENCES AND UTILIZATION THEREOF

Newly acquired base sequences which activate transcription, i.e., DNA sequences serving as promoters. (1) DNA comprising a base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:2; or (2) DNA comprising a base sequence derived from the base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:2 by the substitution, deletion, addition or insertion of one or more bases and having a promoter activity. Thus DNAs (promoters) activating the transcription of a plant are provided. By using these DNAs, the expression of a structural gene can be induced or enhanced in a plant.
