The master braking cylinder (10) has a housing (12) defining a bore (14) containing a sliding piston (16) acted on by a resetting spring (42) and provided with a hollow space (50) which is open on the side facing the base of the bore. The hollow space is provided with a retaining groove (48) for locating an elastic flange part (46), projecting beyond the end of the piston and having a peripheral flange surface (52) of greater outer diameter than the piston.
