1282427 Moving band filter and operation thereof MASCHINENFABRIK SACK GmbH 28 Nov 1969 [10 Dec 1968] 58330/69 Heading B1D Each successive section of a non-endless band 12 of nettle cloth is used for a plurality of successive filtering operations, during which liquid passes through the band from inlet chamber 8 to outlet chamber 7, a used section being withdrawn from between the chambers after filtering, cleaned by means 34 and returned to the chambers for re-use. Only after a section is worn out is it allowed to remain out of the chambers to enable the following section to be used for filtering. Cleaning means 34 comprises a scraper, rotary brush and compressed air nozzle acting successively on the band. Doors 26, 27 clamp the filter band which is supported by a grid 11 during filtering. Liquid is delivered by distributor 22 .. 25 until a band section clogs, then liquid supply is shut off and compressed air delivered to force remaining liquid through the band and dry the cake. The doors are raised and the band moved by reversible drive motor 21 and returned by motor 20. These motors may be air motors or involve slipping clutches. In Figs. 1, 3 (not shown) band 12 is carried across grid 11 by an intermediate support belt, which may be endless or non-endless and has drive motors separate from those driving band 12. |
