In the present invention there is disclosed a vibration damping, workable wall material or wall covering material being in the form of a laminate that comprises two thin metal sheets and a solid rubber layer sandwiched therebetween. The rubber layer is a solid rubber foil or rubber film having a thickness of 0.08 to 0.30 mm, is produced by carrier calendering, and is vulcanized together with each of the metal sheets. Suitable metal sheet thickness is within the range of 0.2 to 0.7 mm. Said rubber layer can be made of an electrically conductive mixture. In case the material usage is intended in areas with heavy demands on hygiene, the metal sheet is produced from stainless steel.
