Calibration system for a color marking device

A color print output is monitored for on-line modelling a feedforward control of the printer operation. A piecewise homeomorphism (PH) is employed by implementing an adaptive algorithm for estimation of model parameters based upon processing of a relatively small number of control samples, target colors or other input signals. The output image signal obtained from the input signal is compared with an output signal computed from the model in response to the input signal. From an error between the computed output signal and the output image signal an updated set of parameters for the model is determined until the error is less than a predetermined value. <IMAGE>
