The shape variation measuring method has the workpiece (1) marked with a number of geometric figures (2,3), which can be detected via an imaging system before and after the deformation process, with evaluation of the shape variation in the geometric figures. Each of the latter has a specific identification marking (8,9), e.g. number or number sequence, or a point or bar coding.
