[Also in Division D1] A strap material comprises a fabric web (10) folded inwards from both sides so that the parallel side marginal edges (13), (14) are in opposed relation to each other, preferably abutting at the centre of the strap, an adhesive 21 securing the two layers thus formed together, and a flocked layer 25 which is attached by the adhesive so as to conceal the marginal edges, while preferably not covering the whole width of the strap. The method of making the strap material comprises advancing a web of porous fabric substrate material and folding it to form a double layer at the folding station (11) before the adhesive is applied at the adhesive station (20). The flocked layer is then applied at the flocking station (24), the adhesive then being cured to bind the two fabric layers and the flocked layer at the drying station (26).</p> |
