The invention relates to a composition, especially for conducting UV dosimetry, containing at least one hydroxyl radical donor, which forms hydroxyl radicals when irradiated with UV light. The inventive composition also comprises one or more dyestuffs, which absorb in the UV and visible domain and which, during reaction, react with the hydroxyl radicals that are formed by the hydroxyl radical donor when irradiated with UV light in order to form products exhibiting an absorption characteristic that differs from the absorption of the dyestuff. The composition is to be used in a so-called sun sensor.
