<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for breaking a rigid and brittle substrate at the position of a scribed line while continuously carrying it in a device for separating the substrate to specified sizes. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a receiving roller provided at a carrying direction downstream end of a flat carrying surface for supporting a rigid and brittle substrate to rotate in a carrying direction, a pressing roller disposed in such a way that its center axis is only a little deflected from a center axis of the receiving roller in the carrying direction, and an elastic roller or belt disposed in such a way that a lower surface part or upper surface part of it is applied to an upper surface or lower surface of the rigid and brittle substrate carried on the downstream side of both rollers. The rigid and brittle substrate is held by the receiving roller and the pressing roller to be pushed toward the elastic roller or elastic belt, thereby it is broken along a scribed line when the scribed line passes the receiving roller or pressing roller.</p> |
