PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce discomfort which an occupant may feel when an airbag is deployed in a nearby position, while assuring the impact absorption characteristic of the airbag. SOLUTION: A third ground fabric portion 23 smaller than first and second ground fabric portions 21 and 22 which constitute an outer shell is positioned between the first and second ground fabric portions 21 and 22. The third ground fabric portion 23 covers a gas inlet 28 formed in the first ground fabric portion 21 and is sewn to the first ground fabric portion 21 at four connections 33. Circular vent holes 31 are formed to overlap communicating portions 25 situated between the connections 33. When the occupant approaches the airbag too close to fully deploy a space surrounded by the first ground fabric portion 21 and the third ground fabric portion 23, gas is smoothly exhausted from the vent holes 31.
