PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of efficiently producing a 5-(substituted naphthylmethyl)hydantoin in high selectivity. SOLUTION: In this method for producing a 5-(substituted naphthylmethyl) hydantoin by catalytically hydrogenating the olefin part of a 5-(substituted naphthylmethylene)hydantoin, the reaction is carried out by using a solvent containing at least one selected from an ether bond-containing compound and a carboxylic acid eater-containing compound.
