PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable gage truck for a railroad vehicle capable of preventing the oscillation and vibration of a sledge freely swingably journaled to an axle box and supporting a vehicle body when the gage is varied, the truck being simple in structure and excellent in durability and having a sledge vibration preventing means. SOLUTION: A cylindrical elastic body 70 made from an elastomer is interposed between a sledge body 64 and a base 61 while being compressed by a predetermined size, the sledge body 64 being freely swingably journaled to the axle box 20 and sliding on a body support roller 42 when the gage is varied. The cylindrical elastic body 70 thereby absorbs the oscillation and vibration of the sledge body 64. Thus, the sledge body 62 is prevented from being swung and vibrated by wind pressure generated when the railroad vehicle travels at high speed, and is thereby prevented from being damaged or causing noises, and the axle box 20 is prevented from being damaged by application of an excessive external force from the sledge body 64 to the axle box 20.
