PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic type ink-jet recording apparatus which can suppress diffusion of coloring material particles during impression of discharge signals. SOLUTION: The electrostatic type ink-jet recording apparatus has recording electrodes 1, cohesion electrodes 2 and a common electrode 3. Coloring material particles are selectively cohered by an electrostatic force by selectively impressing a potential difference between the recording electrodes 1 and the cohesion electrodes 2. An ink 6 is discharged to fly by impressing a potential to the common electrode 3. Printing to a recording medium 9 is thus carried out. In the constitution, coloring material particles are prevented from diffusing during impression of discharge signals and recording without breaking characters, instable discharging, etc., is enabled even in printing at a high frequency.
