PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To devise an opening/closing operation mechanism and an opening/closing control system for a trap door device so that in automating the opening and closing movements of trap doors, the trap doors can be opened and closed at a time while securing safety, the trap door device having a step provided under the floor of the entrance deck of a vehicle, having an opening provided in the entrance deck above the step, and having one of the right and left sides of each trap door hingedly supported, the trap door opening and closing the opening. SOLUTION: Each of the trap doors is opened or closed by a screw drive mechanism and the screw drive mechanism is driven by an electric motor equipped with an electromagnetic brake. A sensor of a monitoring system for checking safety in an area around the trap door is provided at the entrance deck, the sensor having a limit switch for detecting the opening movement of a vehicle side sliding door and another limit switch for detecting the closure of the trap door and enabling the trap door to be opened only when the vehicle side sliding door is open, the sensor enabling the side sliding door to be closed only when the trap door is closed. On condition that safety is ensured by the monitoring system, the operation of opening or dosing the trap door by means of the electric motor equipped with the electromagnetic brake is permitted.
