PURPOSE: A guide and tensioner for a timing chain in an internal combustion engine is provided to reduce noise caused by the vibration generated when the timing chain is drived, to increase the durability of the timing chain, and to perform the function of tension control. CONSTITUTION: A boss(10) with a groove(11) is formed between cam shaft driving sprockets in a cylinder head cover(1'). A tensioner housing(12) with a supporting protrusion(13) is coupled to the groove(11). A cylindrical damper(14) is fixed on the tensioner housing(12) by a pin(15). An elastic board(4) and a supporting pipe(16) are installed on the bottom face and upper part of a guide body(3) respectively. A supporting ring(12') is formed on the lower part of the tensioner housing(12), and supports the supporting pipe(16). A stopper(18) is installed around the supporting pipe(16).
