PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the indefinite state in turning on a power source and to reduce electric power consumption with a shift register constituting drive circuits for a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The internal states (the outputs of respective flip-flops included in shift registers) of all of the shift registers in a scanning signal drive circuit 2 and a data signal drive circuit 3 are inactivated by using initialization signals/ INIT formed by NAND gates 8 by a combination of the signals not affecting the display images from a control circuit 5. As a result, the shift registers are initialized in turning off the power source and, therefore the more than needed increasing of signal line load is prevented when the signals (clock signals, etc.), for controlling the shift registers are selectively inputted, as a result of which the operation of the image display device is stabilized. Since there is no need for increasing the driving ability of external ICs containing the control circuits 5 and the supply ability of the power source circuit, the cost of the external ICs and the electric power consumption may be reduced. |
