PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary tool rest of a numerically controlled lathe which can reduce the size of a facility by saving the space, and shorten the cycle time by reducing the indexing time of a tool. SOLUTION: In the numerically controlled lathe having the rotary tool rest 11 in which the tool 100 is selected among a plurality of tools 100 provided on the rotatable rotary tool rest 11, and a work is machined by the selected tool 100, a plurality of the tools 100 are provided in and perpendicular to the plane of rotation of the rotary tool rest 11.
