PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stepladder allowing a user to conduct work not only at a flat place but also on a slope or a staircase in the same stable installation state as that at the flat place. SOLUTION: This stepladder connected with a pair of ladder formation sections is provided with a folding mechanism 6 between the upper side and the lower side of on ladder formation section 1. The folding mechanism 6 comprises a fitting frame 4 to the upper side of the ladder formation section 1, a support frame 5 rockably journaled to the lower section of the fitting frame 4 and having a support base 9 at the lower end, and a fixing means 10 regulating the rocking motion of the support frame 5 at a fixed position.
