A fuel dispenser system which includes a fuel tube terminating in a fuel supply nozzle which is utilized to insert fuel into the tank of a vehicle. A venturi is disposed within the fuel supply tube and includes a body which reciprocates within the throat of the venturi to vary the cross-sectional area thereof proportionally to the rate of fuel flow through the venturi to produce a constant vacuum at the venturi throat. The constant vacuum is communicated to the nozzle in such a manner that when the fuel level in the fuel tank covers the nozzle the vacuum is interrupted, thereby providing a signal to a cut-off valve to stop the fuel flow. The reciprocating body carries an elastomeric member which seats against a shoulder provided in the venturi throat to function as a check valve to prevent residual fuel dripping from the fuel nozzle in the absence of fuel flow through the fuel supply tube. |
