PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dimensions of a rotor of a compressor motor while a required output of the motor is maintained and to improve reliability and operation efficiency of the motor. SOLUTION: The rotor 5 of the compressor motor has magnetic elements 45 in its layer-built rotor core 26. The magnetic elements 45 are made of a rare-earth system magnet material. The ratio L/D of the dimension L of the rotor core 26 in its rotary shaft direction to the diameter D of the rotor core 26 is selected to be smaller than 1.1.
