PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet conveying device capable of preventing folding of a paper sheet at an edge and failure in conveying the paper sheet caused by abutting on a jaw part of a ratchet wheel at an end part of the paper sheet and being caught, especially failure in conveying the paper sheet caused by drift of the end part of the paper sheet followed by abutting on the jaw part of the ratchet wheel when the paper sheet is vertically upward conveyed in a paper sheet conveying passage. SOLUTION: In this paper sheet conveying device for guiding and conveying the paper sheet S by a paper sheet conveying guide plate 31 and the ratchet wheel 33 rotatably supported thereon, a projecting part 31C comprising an inclined plain from an upstream side of a paper sheet conveying direction to near an outer diameter part of the ratchet wheel 33 is provided on a paper sheet guide plain of the paper sheet guide plate 31.
