PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber unit which has good insertion property to a pipe for inserting an optical fiber and which suppresses increase in the transmission loss of light by the influences of side pressure. SOLUTION: The optical fiber unit 1 has a first jacket layer 3 on the outer surface of a coated optical fiber 2 and has a second jacket layer 4 on the outer surface of the first jacket layer 3. The first jacket layer 3 consists of a thermoplastic elastomer, while the second jacket layer 4 consists of a thermoplastic resin.
