PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a liquid toner giving an image which is not distorted in transfer from a photoreceptor to a support and suitable for use in high-speed image formation. SOLUTION: Toner particles containing a colorant embedded in an ethylenic resin are dispersed in an electrically insulating liquid to obtain the objective liquid toner composition. A phosphoric ester surfactant and nigrosine or a metallic complex are contained in the toner particles and/or the electric insulating solvent.
