摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the intake air quantity of an engine to be the target intake air quantity even in a high-rotation low-load area while reducing pumping loss to a minimum in a device for controlling the closing timing of a solenoid driven intake valve to control the intake air quantity of the engine to be the target intake air quantity. SOLUTION: The target intake air quantity is computed on the basis of accelerator opening and engine speed (S1-S3). In the case of the target intake air quantity being larger than the threshold value set on the basis of the engine speed, it is judged to be in a valve timing control area, and a throttle valve is held into a fully opened state (S12→S13), while the closing timing of the intake valve is controlled according to the target intake air quantity (S23→S24). When the target intake air quantity is smaller than the threshold value and it is judged to be outside of the valve timing control area, the intake valve is fixed to a minimum operating angle (S23→S25), while the opening of the throttle valve is controlled according to the target intake air quantity (S14→S15).
