PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject auxiliary capable of producing high-quality regenerated pulp through highly efficiently removing hot-melt adhesive resin from waste paper containing the hot-melt adhesive resin. SOLUTION: This auxiliary for removing hot-melt adhesive resin from waste paper is characterized by comprising (A) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of cationic surfactants, water-soluble cationic organic polymers and water-soluble amphoteric organic polymers. Another version of this auxiliary is characterized by comprising a combination of the above compound(s) A with (B) at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of water-soluble anionic organic polymers and water-soluble nonionic organic polymers.
