PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating which has tough coating film physical properties, semi-permanent storage stability and a semi-permanent pot life, can singly be cured, can be used at sites contacting with foods, and has excellent performances that, for example, the coating films are scarcely discolored or deteriorated with the passage of the time. SOLUTION: This coating composition containing as an essential component an active hydrogen group-containing polyurethane resin obtained by reacting (a) a polyisocyanate with (b) an active hydrogen-containing compound in a condition that the active hydrogen groups of the component (b) are excessive in comparison with the isocyanate groups in the component (a), is characterized in that the polyisocianate (a) contains uretedione groups and isocyanurate groups and in that the active hydrogen-containing compound (b) comprises (b1) an active hydrogen-containing compound which has a number-average mol.wt. of 300 to 5,000 and the substantially average functional group number of 2 and contains aromatic rings and (b2) an active hydrogen-containing compound which has a number-average mol.wt. of <300 and the substantially average functional group number of 3 to 4, in a (b1)/(b2) weight ratio of 100/0.1 to 100/5.
