PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicore optical fiber or the like in which plural optical fibers whose wavelength dispersion characteristics are respectively changed in the longitudinal direction are bundled and which is capable of restraining deterioration and dispersion of the wavelength dispersion characteristic in the case of being cut and connected. SOLUTION: The multicore optical fiber 1 is formed by bundling the optical fiber 10 and the optical fiber 20. In the optical fiber 10, the sections 11 whose wavelength dispersion characteristics are an A characteristic and the sections 12 whose wavelength dispersion characteristics are a B characteristic are alternately provided in the longitudinal direction, and the wavelength dispersion characteristic is changed in the longitudinal direction. In the optical fiber 20, the sections 21 whose wavelength dispersion characteristics are the A characteristic and the sections 22 whose wavelength dispersion characteristics are the B characteristic are alternately provided in the longitudinal direction, and the wavelength dispersion characteristic is changed in the longitudinal direction. In the multicore optical fiber 1, respective wavelength dispersion characteristics of the optical fibers 10 and 20 coincide at at least end surface positions 1a, 1b. |
