摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set an optimum ignition timing with intake air quantity control by an intake valve and intake air quantity control by a throttle valve in a variable valve system engine. SOLUTION: After computing the target air quantity Qt, an operating condition is determined (S2). In the case of a normal operating condition, throttle opening TVO is fixed close to full opening (S3), and an intake valve closing timing IVC is controlled to obtain the target air quantity Qt (S4). In this case, the ignition timing is set to the advance side (S5). In the case of a specific operating condition, the intake valve closing timing IVC is fixed close to the bottom dead center (S6), and the throttle opening TVO is controlled to obtain the target air quantity Qt (S7). In this case, ignition timing is set to the delay side (S8).
