PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel controller for a digital television receiver and its method by which a channel selected by a user can be switched quickly. SOLUTION: This channel controller is provided with a transport packet parser(TP parser) 23 that extracts a packet identifier (PID) of video and audio signals and attached information of a channel selected by a user, a microcomputer 30 that stores the extracted PID to a memory 31 and sets the stored PID to the TP parser 23, and decoders 26, 24 that receive video and audio signal and decodes them by using the set PID. When the channel desired by the user is selected and the PID of the video and audio signals corresponding to the channel is judged to be stored in the memory 31, this PID is set to the TP parser 23 and the decoders decode the video and audio signals, corresponding to the channel selected by the user by using the PID.
