PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent entanglement of a hoisting wire of a back side winch without causing a weight increase of a gantry and a cost increase of this device by complication of its structure. SOLUTION: This entanglement preventing device 11 for a hoisting wire, which is attached to a gantry 5 correspondingly to at least one winch 6B, comprises a sheave 15 to guide the hoisting wire 9BD of the winch by supporting it on a lateral shaft 17 attached to the gantry, a lateral rod body 16 attached to the gantry at an upper position near the sheave, and an upward and downward sliding means to support the sheave and the lateral rod body movably in the direction of the upper and lower shafts of the gantry by following the locus of the hoisting wire shifting in the upward and downward direction of a crane body by the change of a boom derricking angle. In addition, it is structured by providing an upward and downward sliding means to support the sheave movably in the width direction of the gantry by following the locus of the hoisting wire shifting in the width direction of a winch drum produced by the hoisting and lowering operation of the winch.
