<p>A solution or melt of sorbitol (strength of solution pref. not below 60%) is sprayed on to a moving bed of sorbitol crystals and any water vapour is removed in a gas stream of 60-140 degrees C. The mixing zone is specifically held at 40-90 degrees C. and the amount of spray per single pass is 50-500% of the crystal bed. This method yields dry, free flowing powder, for use as sweetener for diabetics and for other medical purposes.</p> |
