PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory access system for improving the access efficiency of a memory. SOLUTION: In this system for accessing the desired data D of a ROM 61 from a processor and a controller 71, word length information WL for indicating the length of the data D is stored immediately before the respective data D beforehand in the ROM 61. At the time of reading the desired data D, when a processing control part 66 supplies a read start address 3 corresponding to the desired data D to a memory chip MC1, the desired data D of the length indicated by the word length information WL in the read address 4 of the ROM 61 corresponding to the address 3 generated by an address generation circuit 9, a comparator 11 and an incremental part 12 are read and supplied to the processing control part 66. In such a manner, the processor and the controller 71 selectively read only the desired data if a variable length just by supplying the read start address 3 and the memory access efficiency is improved.
