1326028 Phenol-polyacetoacetic acid ester condensation products FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 21 Oct 1970 [23 Oct 1969] 50018/70 Heading C2C The invention comprises phenol-polyacetoacetic acid ester condensation products of the formula in which R 1 and R 2 may be the same or different and one hydrogen or C 1 -C 4 alkyl radicals, R 3 is a saturated aliphatic, aromatic, arraliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 2-12 carbon atoms and a valency equal to n, and n is an integer from 2 to 4. They may be prepared by reacting a phenol of formula with a polyacetoacetic acid ester of formula R 3 (OOCCH 2 COCH 3 ) n in the presence of gaseous hydrogen chloride at - 10‹ to + 15‹ C. in the presence of an aliphatic mercaptan in an amount of 0À05-0À5% by weight, based on the polyacetoacetic acid ester used. The compounds may be used as stabilizers for polymeric materials or in admixture with suitable carriers as fungicides or bactericides. |
